January 31, 2013

I'm not looking for some followers. Well, that'd be nice too. Instead, I'm looking for people to skim this once or twice in their lives and simply leave a comment. The comment could be a motivational quote. It could be a personal story. It could be a link to an amazing article. It could be a few words of encouragement. Anything and everything is much appreciated.

So tonight starts me getting extremely serious about losing weight. Without holding back, here are my top reasons why, in no specific order:

  • Increase my confidence.
  • To stay healthy and reduce my chances of getting diabetes, high cholesterol, etc.
  • To be a better role model for my athletic brother.
  • To make my parents happy.
  • To prove to everyone that I can do it.
  • To not be the heaviest in my family, which I am not yet...but who knows.
  • To be as healthy looking at my cousin, who I'll always be battling with.
  • To feel attractive.
  • To be hit on by hot guys, only to probably hate it.
  • To wear nicer clothes.
  • To fit into all dresses I like and look good.
  • To be able to borrow my friends' clothes.
  • To be able to run.
  • To be able to dance confidently again.
  • To increase my stamina.
  • To be able to do exciting activities, such as skydiving or rock climbing.
  • To not worry about my sweatshirts and jeans fitting.
  • To wear a bikini for the first time in my life.
  • To not be afraid to step on the scale, at home or at the doctor's office.
  • To be spontaneous and not afraid of challenges.
  • To wear cute underwear.
Wow. Definitely more reasons than I thought I'd have.

Here's what I've tried in the past:

  • The GM Diet.
  • The Slim Fast Diet.
  • The Special K Diet.
  • P90X (didn't finish).
So that's not too many right there, but still more than I'd like.

Here are some apps that I have on my phone at the moment:
  • Noom.
  • My Diet Coach.
  • My Fitness Pal.
  • Endomondo.
  • Fitness Buddy Free.
  • Workout Trainer.
  • Lose It!
My Current Restrictions:
  • Vegetarian - affects my ability to follow certain diets.
  • Ankles - previously sprained both; am usually able to do all activities but they usually bother me after strenuous workouts.
  • Accessory Navicular Syndrome - I have an extra navicular bone and tendonitis aggravating that; therefore, I am currently in a cam walker.
  • Money - I'm not ready to purchase many diet plans or DVDs yet, unless I really know they will work. And that means I have to personally know someone that used it.
  • Upper Back - It's always hurting.
  • Weight - hah, obviously. That's the problem. Did I mention that I love lame jokes?
Okay so here's the plan. I'll weigh in in the morning and post the details, yay. Every day, I'll weigh in and track what exercises I do in order to be able to look back. I'll also jot down what I'm eating and/or how many calories a day. And then every few days I'll research healthy articles that can hopefully help me and others out. I'm writing this blog to hold myself accountable to blogger.com. I really hope that I finally change.

I guess that's all for now. See you in the morning!

  1. I love all your reasons! Might I suggest not weighing yourself daily because weight fluctuates based on water levels in your body and your digestive system. You may get discouraged not seeing any change or worse an increase in the number. I would recommend choosing one day a week as 'weigh in day' because that's how you'll see more reliable changes and your progress.

Also remember, as you workout your weight (number on the scale) will go up first before going down. This is because muscle weighs more than fat. Another suggestion to see your progress while you're waiting for the numbers to even out is to take measurements of your chest, waist (across belly button) and thighs. You will see these numbers start to drop faster than the number on the scale at the beginning of your weight loss journey!

I wish you the best of luck, we're in this together! And I'm sure you're not the heaviest in your family. I am quite certain that someone who is very close to you (some may even call her your twin) weighs the very same and is going through the same struggles! :*

    1. If I had to choose one person to share this with, it was obviously going to be you. And this is why :) You're awesome. I won't weigh in every day regularly, but right now it encourages me to cut out EXTREMELY unhealthy things that can easily be replaced by still delicious snacks to munch on!

    2. Hey if it works go for it! And thanks, I'm glad you can trust me! :D It's unfortunate about that cousin you're always competing with though :p

And it really sucks that it doesn't tell me when you've responded!
